This high-pressure common rail fuel injection pump is designed for Caterpillar C3.8 diesel engines utilized in D2 and D3 series compact track loaders. The unit features a gear-driven positive displacement mechanism delivering precise fuel quantity and pressure control across the operating range. It integrates a fuel temperature sensor interface and a suction control valve (SCV) for electronic fuel metering governed by the engine ECM. The pump housing is constructed from high-strength alloy steel with hardened internal components to withstand continuous high-pressure operation up to 1,800 bar. It serves as a direct replacement for Caterpillar OEM part numbers 465-6884 and 4656884. Cross-reference interchange includes Denso 1J509-50500, Kubota 1J508-50501DX, and Caterpillar 483-2801. Compatible with machine serial number prefixes BY4, JW4, and KT4 for 299D2/XHP, 272D2/XHP, and 297D2/XHP models respectively. Installation requires priming of the high-pressure circuit and ECM calibration via Cat ET service tool to synchronize injector trim codes.
