The Caterpillar 1W5253 thermostat regulates engine coolant temperature for jacket water cooling systems in Caterpillar 3300, 3400, and D-series diesel engines. Designed as a direct-fit replacement, it opens at 82°C (180°F) to maintain optimal operating temperature under heavy-duty cycles. The unit features a wax-pellet actuation mechanism with stainless steel valve and brass housing for corrosion resistance. It includes a sealing gasket for leak-free installation.
