The Atlas Copco 1092049977 minimum pressure valve (MPV) is a critical control component in oil-injected rotary screw air compressor systems. It maintains a minimum pressure threshold of approximately 0.45 MPa (4.5 bar) within the air-oil separator tank during start-up and unload cycles. This pressure retention ensures continuous lubrication of the compressor airend, optimizes oil-air separation efficiency, and prevents reverse rotation during shutdown. The valve functions as a combined check valve and pressure regulator. During compressor start-up, it remains closed until separator pressure reaches the preset opening threshold, then modulates to maintain stable system pressure. The non-return function prevents compressed air backflow into the compressor element when unloaded or stopped.
